JASE Digital Media would like to join other 13 cities in proclaiming Saturday, April 16, 2011 as “Foursquare Day” here in JASE-land in Norfolk, VA. Members of the JASE team are avid users of the popular geolocation service and feel that it is extremely important to recognize a truly revolutionary tool such as Foursquare.
April 16, 2010 was proclaimed “Foursquare Day” in Tampa, Florida and in 2011 it has been joined by an additional 12 cities across the country. The most recent city to join in the celebration was New York City where Mayor Michael Bloomberg stopped by Foursquare’s New York office to read the proclamation.
Foursquare is a location-based social networking service accessed by software for mobile devices such as iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android smartphones. Foursquare uses the GPS location from your mobile device to allow you to “check-in” at various venues and locations that are nearby your current location. The service then allows you to communicate with other friends located near you.
