Organic Content Is King! Not So Fast My Friends - Google's Panda Update Is Weeding Out The Spammers

It's been 9 months since Google launched its Panda algorithm and about a month since its last update. One thing is certain, Google is starting to separate the men from the boys. In the world of online marketing one rule has stood the test of time and for the longest it was how businesses focused their online marketing strategies. The rule "Content is King" has reigned for the last handful of years and search engines have been exposed to more content than it has known what to do with.

The old process of boosting your company's profile on Google's search engine was to bombard it with content laced with keywords. As a result, spammer mills would create, in some cases, thousands of pieces of content daily to improve their listings. This only proved to subject search engine users to useless garbage and ultimately frustrate our experiences with search. This horrible subjugation was finally put to an end with Google's release of the Panda Algorithm and in the time since its release we have started to better understand the do's and dont's of SEO for the new Google.

WHAT DOES GOOGLE'S NEW ALGORITHM VALUE MOST IN SEO?

  1. Relevant Content Is King - Now organic content must be keyword laden but also relevant to the topic at hand.

  2. Helpful Content - The creation of content should be for a purpose. Whether it helps, explains, or helps consumers better understand tendencies, it has to be serving a purpose.

  3. Steady Content Creation - Just because you post a blog about "Inbound Marketing" one time does not mean that it will feature high on search lists. Content has to be constantly refreshed to remain relevant.

  4. Keyword Balance - Finding the right balance of using keywords to be recognized but not using so many that the content becomes redundant and unreadable to the reader. Also, avoiding having a negative ranking from search for keyword overload.

It appears the age old question of "Quantity or Quality?" is being answered. Google is rewarding those companies who have placed a spotlight on quality organic content creation and is forcing those who haven't to get in line.
