Social Media and Your Local Community

On June 30, Mashable held its third annual Social Media Day. The event was created to celebrate the connected generation around the world. This year communities around the world held social media meet-ups in their communities in 275 various cities.

In preparation  for the event, Mashable asked readers to reflect on how social media had affected their communities. Readers shared stories about how their communities used social media during natural disasters to come together and help each other. In other stories, readers shared how social media allows a small town to communicate with each other about lost animals and other important items.
How has social media affected your local community? Allow social media to guide your small business in community related events.

Social media has proven to be a great tool for small and large businesses around the world. Through a JASE social media marketing plan, companies are able to reach target audiences and share its message through various social media channels. Your business should like and follow the pages of local government, volunteer organizations, community organized groups and community leaders to stay informed about what's going on in the community you serve.

Helping those in your community by answering community related post creates stronger ties for your brand to the community. The benefits as a result of your businesses actions will go beyond building local clientele.
