Where to find Millennials on Your Social Media Networks

It remains true that every brand will have to determine what social media networks can best fit the needs of the brand and its consumers. While it may often only include blogs, Facebook and Twitter there are brands that have been able to engage with consumers on a vast amount of social media networks. For those brands looking to market to millennials, it is helpful to understand where they are socializing and which social media networks are being used by Millennials.

A recent Mashable survey asked 100 Millennials what social media websites they used the most and what advertisements worked best for them. The survey results were interesting although they only represent a small portion of the millennial generation population. The information may not represent the views of the entire population, however it may help guide a few social media decisions.

46% of the daily activity is on Facebook, 29% on Twitter, and 9% on Pinterest. Other social media networks only received a small amount of daily attention from Millennials.

What does this mean for your social media marketing efforts? It may be wise to invest in Facebook ads and Twitter promoted tweets. However, it is also important to notice that Pinterest has become a new trend and millennials are noticing. Don't jump into everything as Millennials interests change often.

The survey also asked how Millennials react to advertisements. The information showed that discounts and free samples with advertising reaches Millennials.

Understanding where to reach your audience and how to reach them through social media marketing efforts is important. It is also important to understand that this information will change as preferences for social media change.

Create a plan for your brand that is based on what you can provide to your social media audience. Contact JASE to create a social media plan that best fits your brand and allows you to reach millennials and engage with them on websites they use frequently.
