Search engines tell us we need to create quality organic content. They tell us that content will make our website relevant in search results. So we work hard to create this quality content so that people will want to read it and so that search engines will promote it. But did you know that if your content is too long, people may not read it?

The medium controls the attention span of the reader. The best example of this is the blog reader. Generally, blog readers have a short attention span. Meaning that when they read articles they skim the article for the most important parts and then move on to the next article. What does this mean? If you’re creating content that is long in nature, it may be better suited for a white paper or eBook.

The other option you can do with long subject blog articles is break them into a shorter series of articles. Either way, if the article is too long, the reader may not even give it a glance.

Why does the length of the blog article matter to the content creator?
