If you advertise on Facebook and are looking for a higher ROI on your self-serve ads, Facebook has begun testing some new tools to help optimize your ad, and place it in front of someone who is likely to interact with it. One of the new testing features is “Objectives”, which will allow advertisers to ask Facebook to show their ads to people who are more likely to “like my page” or “click my ad or sponsored story”. Facebook is also trying a simpler interface and allowing for more targeting options to be layered.

Facebook has decided to test these new features in response to comments from advertisers who wanted “more guidance on how to optimize their campaigns based on their marketing goals.” Facebook’s data of which users “like” particular pages or install apps can help Facebook place your ad in front of the right people.

Currently, this test is being done with a small group of advertisers, but if the test is successful we can expect a full scale roll out at some point in the future.
