Social Media Is Ever Changing - Facebook Rolled Out A New Layout To Some Criticism

I walked in the office last Wednesday and sat down at my desk to proceed to go through all my email and news of the morning. I checked my Facebook account and was greeted with a series of changes to my Facebook layout. A series of changes that personally I really don’t care for (I think they complicate an adequate existing version).

Nevertheless change is inevitable and as social media is part of our business we must adapt and move forward for the benefit of ourselves and our clients. All the while remembering that we are using a social connectivity application that is free and open to change. I did however, find it a little interesting that Facebook chose to incorporate some of the very same strategies present in Google+’s presentation layout. This is clearly a response to the positive success that Google+ has experienced in its short life so far.

I noticed a fair amount of criticism of the new Facebook layout as many of my co-workers, fans of JASE Digital Media, and my friends voiced their displeasure with the changes. So, when I stumbled upon this cartoon in my Google Reader, I thought I would share it as it seemed fitting for everyone’s frustrations.

What do you think of the new Facebook layout? Does your business have time to invest in the constantly changing world of social media? Leave a Facebook comment below and let us know what you think.
