Quickoffice is one of the main contributors in office productivity solutions, so Google saw fit to acquire them. Last week Google announced they acquired Quickoffice in hopes of incorporating their technology into their product suite of Google Apps.
Quickoffice has a knack for enabling seamless interoperability with popular file formats and Google believes that knack will be paramount for the success of Google Apps going forward.
Google will also absorb Quickoffice’s large customer base as they incorporate the technology.
Quickoffice has one of the most powerful iPad apps that allows users to edit and create documents for either Microsoft Office or Google Docs. Combined with Quickoffice’s cloud technology, Google Apps should be much improved and present a stiff challenge for Microsoft Office and their cloud services.
