Google Inc. announced this week that they have updated their ranking algorithm to return more timely search results. Google’s update is to their Caffeine Web Indexing System and Google claims it will affect up to as much as 35% of searches. It comes on the heels of the pressure that Google has faced from Facebook and Twitter and their users expecting constant fresh news updates.
The new search format will return the most current search information back to its users, not necessarily the most popular. Additionally, recurring events will return the most current or future search data, unlike the past where prior search information about the topic was returned.
In the blog world, companies like JASE will benefit from fresher search data. JASE blogs daily on current and relevant topics, meaning that more readers will be exposed to our content than content of similar topic but older date.
