During Google’s Q1 call CEO, Larry Page, said Google+ is the “social spine’ for Google. Google+ is now integrated in 120 different aspects across Google’s portfolio and is driving the user experience with Google.
Page said that Google+ is “growing quickly” and that the community is seeing “impressive engagement” and “fast growth”. Google+ currently has over 170 million users and is seeing a steady increase of new members.
Google continues to take the stance that Google+ is not a stand alone entity but part of the Google experience. They will not talk about the social communities numbers, but rather the how many Google+ users also use other Google products. This stance is backed up by Google+’s recent interface update that now incorporates more easily the total Google package.
Google+ and your social media marketing plan
We talk to many prospective clients that ask us about Google+ and why it should be in a business’ inbound marketing plan. They are unsure of the return on the investment, they are tentative of learning a new social community, and they are unsure of the importance of being on every social community possible.
The reality is that your business can benefit from having an active presence on Google+. It is another channel to brand your company and increase your brand exposure. Google has integrated Google+ across all its offerings, which means that Google+ is impacting search traffic. Google+ is another contributor to social signal and the more your content can be shared the more impact is has on search results.
