On Friday, August 19th, the Hampton Roads Public Transportation Alliance hosted a reception to celebrate the launch of the new light rail transit in Hampton Roads “The Tide”. It was a great occasion to celebrate the success of the first day the Tide was open to the public. It was reported that 30,000 passengers were aboard the Tide Friday, leaving the cars packed from open to close.
There were two reasons to have the reception Friday, one was to celebrate the launch of The Tide; but the second reason was to honor the man who was more influential in bringing light rail to Hampton Roads than just about anyone else. That man is Randy Wright, one of the first proponents to help bring light rail to the area. Mr. Wright is the man who held steadfast to his dream and saw it reach completion with the launch on Friday.
JASE Digital Media was in attendance as proud sponsors of the HRPTA and proud supporters of light rail mass transit in Hampton Roads. Our CEO, Keith Parnell, serves on the Board of HRPTA, and recounted on how special it was to be a part of this momentus day for the City of Norfolk and the region of Hampton Roads.
