There is often a misconception that because social media is casual there is no need for planning or strategy. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Marketers and public relations practitioners alike use social media strategies to engage with consumers and expose brands to a larger social media audience.

Ragan.com posted an article about the “Top Ten Worst Social Media Tips” composed from PR practitioners when it comes to engaging your audience and Twitter etiquette. We thought it was a funny article and worth a list of our own, one our readers should follow.

JASE’s Public Relations tips in social media:
  • Understand that when you re-tweet it means that you are agreeing with the statement being made in the tweet.
  • Understand that posting a video on YouTube does not mean that the video will become viral. Work on increasing content rather than trying to have the next big YouTube hit.
  • Create a team to work on your social media plan. A team should be aware of the policy and what is going on in your business.
  • Create a social media policy for your business. It will help layout a plan for your brand as well as create a foundation of guidelines for your employees in social communities.

Once you have a team in place your business can create a social media plan that drives consumers to your business. Let us help you, contact JASE and we can work with you to create the perfect social media plan for your business.
