When you hear, “sure, think outside the box,” that usually means there are still constraints you must follow. A lot of times people think they’re doing creatives a favor by saying, “think outside the box.” But in reality, they don’t really mean that because there are still organizational rules, brand guidelines, etc. that must be adhered to. On the positive side, this normally does mean you can sneak in one really cool, way off the planet idea and get away with not being given the stink-eye.
